"It winds me up that books about young women are seen as frivolous and silly, while books about young men's lives that cover the same topics, are reviewed and debated, seen as valid and interesting contributions to the current social and media scene." -Harriet Evans

There is a "lack of gender parity in the literary landscape" (VIDA). Here's where we'll give books by women the consideration they deserve.

Valerie Brett started this bookclub so that she could share her goal to read only books by women. Our group has gathered in Honolulu, Hawaii, since 2017. When some friends from the group moved, they decided to found new BBWBC chapters; now we read in four cities and counting.

Membership is open to anyone interested in reading and discussing books by women. Books are chosen by book club chapter location (it rotates). The only book criteria is: books by woman-identified authors.

Meetings are once per quarter:

  1. Q1: January-March

  2. Q2: April-June

  3. Q3: July-September

  4. Q4: October-December
