Intro: Blindspot

Blindspot is a book about implicit social cognition. It bridges academic work with popular science, which is one of the things I love about it. It brings research to regular people.

It's related to Project Implicit, which was founded in 1998 by three scientists – Tony Greenwald (University of Washington), Mahzarin Banaji (Harvard University), and Brian Nosek (University of Virginia)-- the highlighted wrote the book.

You can take their now-famous Implicit Association Test (IAT) here.

Here is some further reading, if you're interested:

Have you taken the IAT? Many people who would call themselves not racist, not sexist, etc. are surprised by their results. This book absolutely gives us all something to think about.

"The big surprise in Blindspot is the discovery of a discrepancy or split between our attitudes and beliefs as we consciously and deliberately state them, and the more automatic attitudes and beliefs revealed by the Implicit Association Test."
